Non-profit charity organization

Thakkar Bapa Seva Sadan (TBSS) is registered as a not-for-profit, non-religious, voluntary organization with its existence at village Garrakhai of the Belpahar town of Jharsuguda district. The organization came into existence on 1st April 1984, bearing society registration number SBL No-950-30 of 1986-1987, through the strong determination and hard work of great social worker Ms. Arati Biswas and other like-minded people.

The organization was named Thakkar Bapa Seva Sadan after the great social worker, vocational educationalist, freedom fighter and follower of Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Amrit Lal Thakkar of Gujarat. The organization now receives grants from the Department of Women and Child Development & Mission Shakti, Government of Odisha. After registration under the JJ Act, the organization is termed a Child Care Institution for the care and protection of Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP).

To provide a safe, caring, protective and loving environment for children who are vulnerable, orphaned or abandoned, and to strive to make them capable of better mainstreaming to lead a dignified life.

To provide a safe, caring, loving, family environment for children who are vulnerable, orphaned or abandoned and from underprivileged backgrounds. To give a better standard of living and provide good health, higher education and vocational training so they become self-sufficient. We want children to grow up safe and strong — self-sufficient, happy adults who contribute positively to society.
